HIGH SCHOOL SPORTS June 16, 2021

Tuesday Results:

Girls State Golf:

Lake City fired a 343 first day total and has a 16 shot lead over second place Fergus Falls total of 359 at the AA State Meet at The Ridges at Sand Creek in Jordan.

Jordana Windhurst-Knudsen shot a 75 to lead Lake City.  Ella Matzke had an 88, Molly Kennedy and 89 and Emma Berge a 91 for the four scores that counted for the Tigers.

The final round starts at 7:30am today.

Boys State Golf:

Cloquet leads a tightly packed AA field with a 300 total after the first round.  Pine Island-Zumbrota-Mazeppa is in fifth place with a 314 team score.  The second and final round starts at 12pm today.

State Softball:

Class A Quartefinal at Caswell Park in North Mankato: Browerville-Eagle Valley 2 Wabasha-Kellogg 1 (8 innings)  The game was scorelss through seven innings.  The Falcons played a run in the top of the eighth inning but B-EV scored twice in the bottom of the eighth to walk off with the win.

Wabasha-Kellogg ends the season at 15-12

State Baseball:

Class AA Quartefinal at Dick Putz Field in St. Cloud: Plainview-Elgin-Millville 3 Wadena-Deer Creek 1  Connor Schumacher tossed a complete game four hitter, walking one striking out 13 for the the Bulldogs.

PEM (22-3) faces #1 seed Glencoe-Silver Lake (24-3) in the AA semi-finals at 12pm today at Dick Putz Field in St. Cloud.  A PEM win sends them on to the AA title game Friday at 1pm at Target Field.  A loss sees PEM playing in the 3rd place game at 5pm today in St. Cloud.

WIAA Division 2 Regional: Baldwin-Woodville 8 Prescott 4

WIAA Division 4 Regional: Cochrane-Fountain City 9 Pepin-Alma 6

Wednesday Softball:

WIAA Division 2 Section Semi-Final: Ellsworth at Baldwin-Woodville

WIAA Division 3 Section Semi-Final: Greenwood-Loyal at Prescott
