Wingers Win State Title

The Red Wing Wingers won the MSHSL State Clay Target trap shooting championship Friday at the Minneapolis Gun Club.

Red Wing won the title in a field of 40 teams of all sizes from Class 1A to Class 9A.

Each team had five competitors who had four rounds of 25 shots.  That amounts to 100 shots per person and 500 shots per team.

Red Wing’s team score was 484 (96.8%), one shot better than Tri-City United with a 483.  Alden-Conger was third with a 482.

The Wingers were led by William Ahrens with a 98.  Sam Delain, Chloe Struss and Isaac Kosek fired 97 and Jacob Quade added a 95.  Ahrens, Delain and Struss are seniors while Kosek and Quade are freshmen.  The 484 team score was one better than the Wingers 483 tally the pervious week, when they won the Class 6A championship in Alexandria.
